Pastor Daniel Au is a native Philadelphian surburbanite, and after several years away in Chicago, the Lord has brought him back to the Philadelphia area. He grew up in Bucks and Montgomery County and attended Chinese Christian Church and Center (CCC&C) in Philadelphia’s Chinatown. In 1991, he left for Illinois to study biology (B.A.) and later medicine (M.D.) at Northwestern University at its Evanston and Chicago campuses, respectively.
During his undergraduate and graduate studies, he worked closely with NU’s InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and NUMed’s Christian Medical and Dental Society, coordinating the campus Bible study and Small Group ministries, and he was also involved with the local churches he attended. After completing his M.D. in 1998, he decided to return back to Philadelphia to enroll in the one-year certificate program at Westminster Theological Seminary and to spend time with his family before going to residency. After the first semester, he enjoyed his experience so much that he extended his program and graduated with a Master of Arts in Religion (M.A.R.) in 2000. While at WTS and serving in CCC&C’s college fellowship and community ministries from 1998-2000, he followed God’s call to full time ministry, a leading he felt even while at NU, and left caring for the human body for caring for the body of Christ. God’s call was confirmed by his home church welcoming him to serve full-time as a member of the English-speaking ministry pastoral team in September 2000. While at CCC&C, Daniel was involved in preaching, teaching, outreach, and working with youth and young adults. In November 2002, he joined Trinity Christian Church of Greater Philadelphia as the English Ministry Pastor, caring for all ages in the congregation.
Daniel has an interest in apologetics, Asian-American ministry, and missions (both urban and overseas) having worked in the urban settings of Chicago, Philadelphia and Singapore, the latter having spent a total of six months over two summers in Southeast Asia on short-term missions. In his free time he enjoys playing his musical instruments, cooking, and singing praise songs when he’s taking long walks by himself.
